Daniel Felz is an attorney with Alston & Bird's Privacy, Cyber & Data Strategy Group. Dan leverages his extensive international experience to advise clients on global privacy, cybersecurity, technology, and adversarial matters. After graduating Order of the Coif from law school, Dan was an assistant professor of law at the University of Mainz School of Law in Germany. His teaching focused on cross-border litigation and transactions. Dan also wrote extensively on U.S. and German privacy law, including publishing a 600-page treatise in German on multijurisdictional class action litigation. Dan clerked for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Georgia, the 68th Judicial District Court of Dallas County, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas. Dan often practices out of Alston & Bird's Brussels office, where Alston & Bird's EU Privacy, Cyber & Data Strategy Group is headquartered. He has presented U.S. privacy legislation to German privacy regulators as part of a limited series of "Mainz Presentations on Security and Information Law" at the invitation of the University of Mainz School of Law and the data protection commissioner of the German state of Rheinland-Pfalz. Dan has also presented clients' EU cybersecurity programs to U.S. financial regulators. Dan is fluent in German, an intermediate French speaker, and a beginner in Spanish and Arabic.
