James Goldfeier is Counsel in Simpson Thacher’s Litigation Department and is a member of the Antitrust and Trade Regulation Practice Group. Based in the Firm’s New York office, he focuses his practice on advising clients concerning the pre-merger notification requirements in the U.S. under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act (“HSR”). Recognized by publications as a “Rising Star,” and “Future Leader,” he provides counsel on merger investigations, analysis and review, and counseling with regard to antitrust compliance issues, including integration planning. James Goldfeier is Counsel in Simpson Thacher’s Litigation Department and is a member of the Antitrust and Trade Regulation Practice Group. Based in the Firm’s New York office, he focuses his practice on advising clients concerning the pre-merger notification requirements in the U.S. under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act (“HSR”). He provides general counseling with regard to antitrust compliance issues, including integration planning, and counsels clients in issues involving mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures across a variety of industries, including technology, life sciences, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, and others. James was recognized by Best Lawyers as one of its “Ones to Watch” in 2022 and 2021, was named a “Future Leader” by Who’s Who Legal: Competition in 2022, 2021 and 2020, and as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers for 2018-2021. Experience prior to joining Simpson Thacher includes representing: Dell Technologies’ $67 billion acquisition of EMC Corporation Thermo Fisher Scientific’s $13.6 billion acquisition of Life Technologies Thermo Fisher Scientific’s $7.2 billion acquisition of Patheon N.V. Ball Corporation’s $6.85 billion acquisition of Rexam PLC McKesson in its $1.4 billion acquisition of CoverMyMeds LLC James has published articles in Law360 and ABA Publications. He has also been featured as a panelist at events hosted by the ABA and the Columbia Law School Antitrust Law and Economics Association. James received his J.D. from Columbia Law School in 2012, where he was a founding member and later president of the Columbia International Antitrust Law Association. In the summer of 2010, James worked as a judicial intern for Justice Shirley Werner Kornreich of the Commercial Division of the New York State Supreme Court, New York County. He received his A.B. from Harvard University. He is admitted to practice in New York and is a member of the Executive Committee of the New York State Bar Association, Antitrust Section.
