Douglas S. Stanger is past chair of the firm's Bankruptcy, Financial Restructuring and Risk Management Department and concentrates his practice in bankruptcy, corporate, and real estate and property tax law. He has served on the United States Department of Justice Panel of Bankruptcy Trustees for 25 years and has been appointed to the Panel of Chapter 11 Subchapter V Trustees, based on the amendments to the bankruptcy code in 2019. This is in addition to his status as an approved mediator for the Bankruptcy Court. He also previously served as a member of the firm's Board of Directors.
Mr. Stanger's substantial experience in bankruptcy includes representation of debtors, creditors along with bankruptcy creditor's committees. His real estate practice includes representation of individuals and developers in complex transactions. He has authored articles and regularly speaks at trade association conferences.
Additionally, he represents New Jersey commercial and residential property owners in the tax appeal process in challenging their tax assessments, and spearheaded the firm's tax appeal seminar series.
Mr. Stanger is an active leader in professional associations as well as community organizations. He is a former recipient of the Atlantic County Bar Association's "Honorable Benjamin A. Rimm Award" for outstanding young lawyer for the year. He is also the recipient of the New Jersey State Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division "Service to the Community Award."
