Jesús focuses his practice on complex litigation and primarily represents clients in product liability, toxic torts, and class action lawsuits and arbitrations. He serves as national counsel for a Fortune 500 trucking and trailer company. He has also handled litigation matters in a range of industries involving claims related to breach of contract, federal civil rights cases against police officers under 42 U.S.C. § 1983 (excessive force and jail death cases), wrongful death, and premises liability. In particular, Jesús has substantial experience in automotive litigation, representing car, truck, and trailer manufacturers. He currently handles the defense of product liability matters involving advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), consumer class actions in state court consolidated proceedings, multidistrict litigation and litigation-related automotive warranty claims. Jesús has also defended paint, chemical, raw talc, quartz, silica and pesticide manufacturers in numerous personal injury and wrongful death lawsuits alleging toxic exposures. Additionally, Jesús is committed to pro bono service, providing representation in immigration cases for asylum seekers from many countries, including Ukraine and Afghanistan, and children who were separated from their families at the U.S.-Mexico border. He also represents immigrants in plaintiff-side false imprisonment / overdetention cases. Jesús is a member of the Defense Research Institute, as well as the Los Angeles County Bar Association, Association of Business Trial Lawyers and the Hispanic National Bar Association. Finally, Jesús is the co-chair of Shook’s Hispanic Employment Resource Group ERG.
