Andrew A. Wood

Andrew A. Wood

Allen Matkins, Senior Counsel

Irvine, California

Andrew Wood partners with clients to consistently find the best possible outcomes on their behalf. His litigation experience ranges from negligence claims, fraud, breach of contract, construction contract disputes, alleged wrongful non-judicial foreclosure practices, unfair business practices, violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and management of e-discovery. He is a thorough and detail-oriented attorney who enjoys learning the intricacies of his client's businesses and how to adapt common legal principles to their unique situation. In each client engagement, Andrew strives to provide cost-effective counsel and abate the stress that litigation can cause for his clients and their businesses. One of Andrew's recent successes was in representing a local company in pursuit of a significant balance owed on a distribution agreement, resulting in a nearly $1 million judgment after a defaulted bench trial. Andrew has also second-chaired a lengthy arbitration and helped prepare multiple other matters for trial, in addition to resolving matters by dispositive motion practice and negotiated resolution. Andrew is very familiar with the Orange County bench and bar, having worked with Justice Richard Fybel of the California Court of Appeal in Santa Ana, and the Hon. Charles Margines of the Orange County Superior Court, who later served as that Court's Presiding Judge. These experiences, as well as Andrew's upbringing in Orange County, give him a unique perspective into the legal challenges facing companies in Orange County, along with the procedures and thought processes Southern California judges apply in their rulings. An active participant in the Orange County business and legal community, Andrew is a member of both the Irvine and Newport Beach Chambers of Commerce, the Elite OC Young Professionals group, and the St. Margaret's School Alumni Council. He is also actively involved in the Association of Business Trial Lawyers and the Orange County Bar Association, as well as the Celtic Bar Association of Orange County. Andrew gives back to his community by volunteering with School on Wheels to tutor underprivileged children.
