Giles N. Turner primarily focuses his intellectual property practice on the preparation and the prosecution of patent applications directed to semiconductors, polymers, separation processes, batteries, metallurgy, oil field technology, packaging, hygiene solutions, material science, mechanical inventions, biotechnology, and nanotechnology.
Many of Giles's clients are large companies based in Japan, and he also serves clients based in France and Germany. He has built close working relationships with his overseas clients as he counsels them on their IP strategies, often traveling overseas to meet with them and better understand their business needs. Giles is also actively involved in educating foreign associate trainees on U.S. patent practice during their regular extended visits to Washington, D.C.
Before joining Fitch Even, Giles served as an in-house attorney with a Fortune 500 manufacturer, where he assisted with patent preparation, foreign prosecution management, and contracts. Prior to that, Giles practiced patent law for several years at an IP boutique headquartered in Arlington, Virginia.
With a background in chemical engineering, Giles previously worked as a process engineer for a multinational semiconductor manufacturing company prior to enrolling in law school. He also served as a researcher for a multinational polymer manufacturing company and assisted the company with its international manufacturing operations.
