I am a member of the junior board for the Birmingham Education Foundation Junior Board. In addition, I serve on the Honors College Council for the University of Alabama's Honors College, and I am a Fellow in the Blackburn Institute. My husband, Alex, and I are members of the Cathedral Church of the Advent. What types of clients do you represent? I represent a wide variety of clients, including healthcare and insurance companies, public utilities, and product manufacturers. What do you find most exciting about your work? The most satisfying part of my work is constantly learning about the law and being able to translate it into practical advice and assistance for my clients. Although some lawyers dread legal research, it is one of my favorite parts of my practice. I have always enjoyed puzzles and logic games and researching complex legal questions is like solving the ultimate puzzle. I am grateful to be in a profession that is both intellectually challenging and pragmatic. What previous experiences, prior to your work at Balch, influence your practice? Prior to becoming a lawyer, I was a high school math teacher in Lowndes County, Alabama through Teach For America. Teaching was the hardest job I have ever had and through it I developed a strong work ethic and an appreciation for the importance of advocacy. Being in a rural area, I was in awe of the strong community surrounding my students. It has served as a great reminder to me that, no matter what field I work in, I have a role in supporting and improving the education systems in my community. After the Balch team presented the defense's case, the Court entered judgment in the defense's favor on the fourth and final claim of a prescriptive easement. The verdict was affirmed on appeal. (2019-2020) Patent Litigation: Successfully argued a change of venue motion for a patent lawsuit in the Northern District of Georgia, resulting in the case being transferred to the Northern District of Alabama.
