The Energy & Infrastructure (’E&I’) group is recognised as a leading international practice and acts for financial institutions, major trading houses, utilities, energy companies, energy and infrastructure funds and governmental institutions (including export credit agencies) on a broad range of transactions. At Linklaters, we are looking for a passionate, curious and driven Japanese qualified Associate / Managing Associate, based in our Tokyo office, to be a part of our E&I practice. Key Responsibilities and skills: Taking the leading associate role on inbound and outbound transactions and driving them through, from the initial stages through to closing Drafting and negotiating finance documentation, project risk analysis, acquisition documents (share purchase agreements and shareholders’ agreements), demonstrating familiarity with the latest trends, precedents and market standards Providing sound commercial and legal advice to clients Supervising, managing and mentoring junior lawyers in the team; leading by example and being a team player Networking with clients and other market players alike, in order to capitalize on new business opportunities Contributing know-how and experience to the team Key Requirements: 5 years+ experience (PQE3.5) /  66-ki+ Admitted in Japan (bengoshi) Excellent drafting and mastery of the fundamentals of contract and finance-related law Fluency in English Energy and Infrastructure sector experience and familiarity with market precedents (be it in Asia, Europe and/or the US) Experience within a top tier firm would have an added advantage Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills Ability to work efficiently under pressure The will to approach every aspect of the role in an enthusiastic and proactive manner #LI-DS This list of duties and responsibilities above is not exhaustive. It is intended to describe the general content of, and requirements for, the performance of this job.
