Team: Tax Advice and Controversy Reports to: Reporting to Tax Partners Purpose of job This role will be advising on all aspects of corporate tax. This is an opportunity to work on a wide range of transactions and tax structuring, ensuring tax-efficient implementation and execution to meet client needs. We invest strongly in the training available to our associates. Our tax lawyers are seen as commercial, innovative and the role will enable you to have significant client contact. Key tasks The tax team provides advice in relation to the structuring and execution of transactions, both in the UK market and internationally. The successful candidate will be advising on the tax aspects of some or all of: • structured real estate transactions; • M&A, joint venture and other corporate transactions; • funds: hedge and debt, real estate and other asset classes; • international tax structures and cross-border transactions; • structured (asset and Islamic) finance and capital markets; • insolvency and restructuring; and • relevant VAT and indirect tax issues. Qualifications required 4 PQE+ Ideally England and Wales qualification but appropriate legal qualification to enable the candidate to practice in the UK Strong Academics Experience and Knowledge • A broad range of corporate- tax experience at a City or large regional practice. • Experience in real estate tax and taxation of corporate transactions is an advantage. • Tax Experience could in addition include: • funds taxation; • taxation of financial transactions; and tax accounting. Attitude and Skills • Commercially focussed with an intellectual curiosity. • Confident in front of clients. • Ability to work independently but know when to seek additional support. • Confident to question tax “received thinking”. • Clear and concise communication skills. • Flexibility, and adaptability.
