Job Title
Associate
Firm
Stanton Law, LLC
Location
Georgia-Atlanta
Description
Stanton Law LLC is a growing Atlanta-based, business-side Firm, specializing in helping its clients keep their business issues from becoming legal problems. We are a Why-centered shop and our purpose is simple: We’re cultivating a non-traditional, entrepreneurial Firm in which we build and maintain fulfilling and sustainable lives in and out of work. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of legal experience, including drafting contracts and familiarity with legal disputes in litigation or an administrative setting. Experience with business, transactional, or employment law is preferred but not required. Candidates need to be creative and practical problem solvers with clear-eyed judgment and strong critical thinking. Because of our flexible structure, initiative and self-management are critical. Candidates need to be comfortable making decisions. An active Bar license and a clean disciplinary history are prerequisites. Associates will report to the Managing Partner and work closely with firm Partners, Senior Employment Counsel, other associates, and law clerks. Stanton Law legal training emphasizes both breadth and depth so you will work on projects designed to cultivate the substantive and practical skills necessary to: Advise clients first-hand Draft novel and complex contracts Master federal and multi-state legal and compliance requirements Negotiate for clients in informal and administrative settings Advocate in a variety of disputed contexts Manage multi-jurisdictional, interdisciplinary projects from start to finish The compensation for an Associate at Stanton Law is different from other places. Because we promote autonomy and encourage integration of your work and personal life, we don’t (and never will) have billable hours minimums. Instead, we pay a healthy hourly wage based on a percentage (typically 17% to 21%) of the attorneys’ billable rate. We pay that wage for all hours worked, both billable and non-billable productive hours (such as business development, pro bono, reading, CLE, firm meetings, writing articles and conducting legal research, etc.). The Associate gets to choose how much they work to keep their careers moving and their lives balanced. The wage goes to 1.5 times the regular hourly rate for hours worked in excess of 120 in a month, so the numbers can add up quickly. We also have efficiency bonuses and award a percentage of income from clients that the Associate originates for the Firm. We believe our structure provides the right incentives to build the practice you want and the pace that suits your needs. Industriousness and creativity are encouraged and rewarded. Practice areas: Transactions and Contracts, Management-Side Employment Counseling, Executive Compensation, Intellectual Property, Succession Planning and Asset Protection, Healthcare, Tax Planning and Counseling, Health and Welfare Benefits (ERISA), Executive Compensation, Civil Litigation, or Financial Services. Other practice areas and specialties will be considered, provided they are business-oriented and management side. If this sounds like a fit for you, send your resume to [email protected] or contact us at (404) 881-1288. [Note new job link; job reposted]
