Responsibilities and practice The Portland, Maine office of Dentons is seeking a motivated and experienced Litigation Associate to join our growing practice. The successful candidate will work in one of the premier Litigation practices on interesting and sophisticated matters from commencement to final resolution. The ideal candidate will be experienced with handling litigation matters including environmental litigation (energy, climate change, water and land use issues), intelligent, hardworking, an excellent writer, thoughtful, driven, and personable. Judicial clerkship experience is not required, but highly desired. The position will include a mix of in-office and remote work depending on case and workload demands. Position requirements Personal skills/attributes Must have superior communication and be able to work in a team environment Must have the ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure Must have the ability to interact and work productively with all levels of firm staff Professional demeanor, attention to detail, and great organizational skills are essential Strong verbal, written, analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills Strong computer technical skills and demonstrated ability to learn new software Ability to maintain discretion and privacy with confidential matters and documents Excellent client service, ability to work overtime and travel as needed Technical skills 3-5+ years of litigation experience Demonstrated ability to manage litigation on a day-to-day basis including the ability to draft pleadings, propound and respond to written discovery, gather relevant/requested information from the client, draft and argue substantive motions and briefs, and defend/take fact witness depositions with limited supervision Ability to meet minimum billable hourly requirement. Ability to recognize and comprehend facts and legal concepts. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, PDF creation tool(s), document management software, timekeeping software, Intapp Time experience preferred, Internet required.
