We have an opening for a Due Diligence Attorney (Real Estate). This position may sit in any of our U.S. offices. The Due Diligence Attorney (Real Estate) performs and coordinates substantive due diligence as a member of the Firm’s Due Diligence Center. In this capacity, the Due Diligence Attorney (Real Estate) will: Perform due diligence review in connection with real estate transactions, including real estate financing and purchase and sale transactions; Perform due diligence in connection with title and survey work, including reviewing and commenting on title commitments, property surveys and zoning reports, and coordinating changes to such documents with the title insurance companies, surveyors, and zoning companies, respectively; Perform due diligence review for other business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions and financings; Prepare title objection and escrow instruction letters; Review loan documentation; Coordinate with deal teams to facilitate the completion of due diligence projects; Create due diligence summaries and reports using legal project management software and other technology tools; Identify efficiency opportunities and/or enhancements in the performance of the Due Diligence Center; Coordinate with peers, as appropriate, to ensure best practices in due diligence; Manage projects to ensure that the work product is delivered accurately and on time; Work beyond scheduled hours as necessary and travel as required; and Handle additional related projects as necessary. Qualifications: Must have (i) law degree and (ii) current bar admission (and be physically located) in a state in which Paul Hastings has an office location; At least 2 years of law firm practitioner experience in Real Estate, with experience performing real estate-focused due diligence, including experience with real estate financing, purchase and sale transactions, and title and survey work; Advanced legal knowledge and practice skills of real estate due diligence, including title insurance underwriting and practice and ALTA/NSPS Land Title Survey requirements; Expert knowledge of the workflows of performing due diligence; Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications, specifically Word and Excel; Advanced proficiency in drafting due diligence reports and related legal transactional documents; Expert proficiency in the English language, including punctuation, spelling, grammar and writing skills; and Proficiency in the use of legal technologies, such as Inter/Intra/Extranet technologies, legal research databases.
