Jones Day has an immediate opening in our Washington office for an associate with a minimum of 1 year of substantive experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications, conducting patent validity, non-infringement, and freedom-to-operate analyses, and supporting IP due diligences, patent litigations, post-grant proceedings (IPR, PGR, interferences) and other IP matters in the life sciences related to cutting-edge technologies, such as gene editing, cellular therapies, antibody-based therapeutics, and molecular diagnostics. Qualified candidates must have an advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred, or M.S. with several years industry experience) in the biological sciences (e.g., Biology, Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Immunology, Virology), be registered to practice at the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and be admitted to a State Bar (with eligibility to waive-in to the D.C. bar). Additionally, candidates should have excellent written and oral communication skills, superior academic background and a desire for teamwork, significant responsibility and client interaction.
