Position Summary We are currently seeking a skilled and highly qualified associate with 2 to 4 years of experience to join our Commercial Litigation team dedicated to the representation of technology companies facing disputes internationally. As a member of the team, you will have the opportunity to help provide full-service support to technology companies on regulatory, litigation, compliance, and criminal matters throughout the world as well as serve in a product advisory role. Combining a keen eye for detail with an ability to see the bigger picture, you should be adept at distilling complex information into clear, insightful analyses that inform and strengthen your client’s position. Strong organisational and time management skills will also be significant assets, enabling you to manage multiple workstreams and produce exceptional work to tight deadlines. In addition to outstanding academic credentials, you should demonstrate excellent legal knowledge, with a strong intellectual curiosity to keep learning and the drive to tackle challenges that come with working in a global law firm. Personable and co-operative, you should enjoy working as part of a team, and be adept at building strong professional relationships. In this capacity, we have successfully handled cutting-edge issues involving: online safety, hosting provider and intermediary liability and data protection, e-commerce, digital media, as well as issues involving the challenges to terms of service, foreign and domestic contracts, privacy, defamation, free speech, safety of minors on the internet, global law enforcement and security, trademark, copyright infringement, and anti-spamming laws. Tasks and Responsibilities Develop litigation strategy for matters in the UK and throughout the globe – ranging from data protection, defamation, IP infringement, consumer protection, contract and other disputes – and oversee on-the-ground counsel, where required, to implement strategy Guide clients through regulatory engagement with, and investigations by, OFCOM, the European Commission, and consumer protection and other international agencies Advise clients on risk assessments associated with newly developed products, policies and business structures Research and present global analysis of laws impacting social media and other technology companies, including intermediary liability, hate speech, defamation, etc. Review and advise on proposed legislation and regulations across the world Qualifications 2-4 years’ experience of Commercial Litigation and/or regulatory experience, gained wholly or in part in private practice. Strong academic record and intellectual curiosity, creative thinker Demonstrable interest in internet and tech law Commercial and business awareness Outstanding communication and negotiation skills Strong time management skills, ability to stay calm under pressure when juggling multiple projects.
