Jay Fujitani 1L Summer Program (SF)

Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP

Location
California-San Francisco
Description
Program Description Jay Fujitani 1L summer associates are full participants in the MTO summer associate program. 1L summer associates are given meaningful work to provide them with a realistic sense of law practice at our firm. They work closely with attorneys in our various practice areas and are encouraged to participate in firm life through our weekly attorney lunches, training programs, social events and practice group meetings. Recognizing that first-year law students have one year less academic experience, 1L’s receive enhanced mentoring to ensure they have a productive summer, including a fully paid opportunity to attend the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity’s 1L Summit Program. Program Requirements 1L summer associates are required to spend a minimum of eight weeks at the firm. Those who would like to spend their entire summer at the firm may stay a maximum of ten weeks in either our Los Angeles or San Francisco offices. All applicants must be first-year law students in good standing pursuing a J.D. at an ABA-accredited law school. Successful candidates will have a record of academic achievement, employment, and community service indicating great potential to excel in the legal profession and to take actions that will contribute to the inclusivity of Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP and the legal community. Candidates must submit a personal statement that addresses their commitment to furthering inclusivity in the legal profession. Applications should include the following: - Cover letter; - Resume; - *Law school transcript; - Undergraduate transcript; - Contact information for two references; and - Personal statement (500 words or less) addressing what you believe demonstrates your commitment to furthering inclusivity in the legal profession. This could include a description of your exceptional contributions, through community service or otherwise, to the cause of inclusivity; and/or how you have been inspired to become a leader in contributing to the inclusivity of the legal community. *Candidates who apply before receiving their first semester grades will be asked in January to supplement their applications with a copy of their transcript once it is available.
