Whether you are a software developer, product engineer, sales team member, or part of our corporate team, at Ansys we know that by embracing what makes us each unique, we become collectively better. ** Summary / Role Purpose** As the Senior Legal Counsel - IP and Licensing in the Legal, IP and Risk department (“LIR”) at Ansys, the candidate will be an experienced attorney collaborating across the company, including with the product organization, the office of the CTO, sales organization, and corporate development, to support all aspects of IP protection, IP management, licensing, and other transactions. This will include providing legal advice and counsel regarding Ansys’ software, inventions, patents, open source software compliance, trademarks, copyrights, licenses and other agreements. The Senior Legal Counsel will work with the product development and product marketing teams to draft and negotiate IP terms for various agreements such as software license agreements, collaboration agreements, and cloud services agreements. ** Key Duties and Responsibilities** * Advise the company on IP matters * Support the company’s patent, trademark, and copyright protection strategies and portfolios; help manage patent and trademark prosecution * Draft and negotiate IP and technology license terms of various agreements, including software license agreements, cloud and other types of services agreements, collaboration agreements, and strategic partnership agreements * Advise the company on open source compliance matters ** Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience** * JD degree * A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience as an IP attorney * Experience protecting inventions and managing patent prosecution in the software area * Experience with drafting and negotiating various types of license agreements and other agreements, including software license agreements ** Preferred Qualifications and Skills** * Experience with software products, protection and licensing * Experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the software area * Experience with open-source software compliance issues * Experience working with software developers * Experience with license compliance issues, including license breaches, copyright infringements, and software pirating ** ALIGNING YOUR VALUES TO OUR SOLUTIONS** At Ansys, our diverse, collaborative teams give us the strength and insight to solve the world’s most challenging engineering problems.
