By joining our team, you are helping to provide an experience to our stakeholders that delivers on our promises._ As a member of the Kemper Corporate Legal Department in our Chicago headquarters, this attorney will work on a broad range of corporate, securities and regulatory matters for a publicly-traded insurance group, including advising on corporate, securities and financial transactions and investment and intellectual property matters. Position Responsibilities: * Provide legal advice and counsel on various complex transactional matters, including corporate, securities and financial transactions and investment and intellectual property matters * Collaborate with treasury, investments, tax and other teams regarding capital markets, banking and investment matters, intercompany agreements, internal controls and other issues * Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts with a broad range of counterparties, including banks and other financial market players, and provide guidance on related legal issues and risk mitigation strategies * Support insurance regulatory initiatives, including holding company matters and regulatory audits and examinations * Support entity management process, including subsidiary board and shareholder meetings and consent approval process * Help manage support team and promote culture of legal excellence, compliance and good corporate governance * Lead or otherwise participate in special projects and perform other duties as requested Position Qualifications: * JD degree and licensed to practice law in Illinois or with ability to obtain Illinois in-house law license * At least 4-8 years of legal experience at large law firm or as in-house counsel * Background in various transactional matters, including corporate, securities and financial matters * Insurance industry background preferred * Team player able to work independently and collaborate with colleagues across the organization * Excellent verbal and written communication, problem-solving and analytical skills * Comfortable in fast-paced environment and able to produce high quality work under deadline pressure * Highly-driven and self-motivated _Kemper is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
