<div id="jobDescriptionText" class="jobsearch-jobDescriptionText"><div> <p>We are looking to hire an <b>Attorney II</b> to defend lawsuits against GEICO insureds and represent GEICO in Bodily Injury, Uninsured Motorist (UM) and Underinsured Motorist (UIM), subrogation lawsuits filed in State court in the Tampa Bay area.</p> <p></p> <p> Responsibilities include prepare and handle pleadings, motions, and discovery, to include depositions/examinations before trial and examinations under oath, settlement conferences and defend by trial, arbitration, or mediation all matters assigned, as applicable. You will also handle researching laws and preparing legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda. You will render opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department.</p> <p></p> <p><b> Candidate Qualifications: </b></p> <ul> <li><p>Juris Doctorate required</p></li> <li><p> Must be admitted/licensed to practice in FL</p></li> <li><p> At least Four years of litigation experience, including insurance defense or personal injury</p></li> <li><p> Currently licensed in good standing to practice law in applicable jurisdictions, and meet and maintain licensing requirements, including mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements where applicable</p></li> <li><p> Flexibility to travel as required to attend trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings and conferences</p></li> <li><p> Skilled in learning and applying large amounts of technical and procedural information</p></li> <li><p> Excellent writing and verbal communication skills</p></li> <li><p> Ability to learn case handling software and work paperless</p></li> </ul> <p></p> <p><b> Location - Remote Eligible in: Tampa Bay area</b></p> <p></p> <p><b> Benefits:</b></p> <p> At GEICO, we make sure you have the support and resources to leverage and develop your skills, secure your financial future, and take care of your health and well-being.
