The site offers an open floor plan to allow cross-functional collaboration and encourage innovation, outdoor patio and sports area, Fitness center, onsite dry-cleaning services, Wellness Center, mother’s rooms, and more.</p> <p></p> <p><b> The role</b></p> <p> We have an exciting opportunity for a talented, business-savvy and intellectually curious lawyer to join our Oncology Legal team and be at the cutting edge of healthcare law by counseling our global Oncology commercial and R&amp;D organizations. We are looking for the right lawyer to join our team in Gaithersburg, Maryland. We provide our lawyers with broad experience and the opportunity to work with diverse stakeholders.</p> <p></p> <p> Oncology Legal is responsible for managing AZ’s Oncology-related commercial and R&amp;D legal risks for global teams and serves as the legal team for AstraZeneca’s US Oncology business. We are also responsible for all Oncology-related litigation (including commercial, product liability and IP litigation) and government investigations.</p> <p></p> <p> The Oncology Legal team works at the heart of delivering our exciting portfolio of pipeline and marketed products while managing significant legal risks of multi-billion dollar brands. We advise global teams on key legal risks and opportunities across the discovery, development, and commercialization of our life changing medicines. This broad remit enables us to work in new and developing areas of law, medicine, and business, and this dual role supporting our US business and global teams allows for US lawyers to gain global experience.</p> <p></p> <p> The <b>Legal Counsel</b> will influence business decisions with high quality legal advice and analysis. Strategic thinking and influencing skills are key as the position has a direct impact on business activities and key legal matters with significant reputational or financial value and risk. The Legal Counsel will be a proactive business partner with an understanding of internal and external trends, and able to articulate legal considerations to senior stakeholders clearly and concisely in a dynamic environment.</p> <p></p> <p><b> Minimum Qualifications</b></p> <ul> <li> JD and admission to the bar of at least one state;</li> <li> 3+ years of experience working with the pharmaceutical industry; strong working knowledge of the pharmaceutical/life sciences industry including the discovery, development, and commercialization life-cycle</li> <li> Ability to take accountability, appropriately calibrate risk and enable clear decision-making with confidence and professional maturity</li> <li> Solutions-oriented and pragmatic mindset</li> <li> Intellectually curious, appetite for learning with a proven ability to master new subjects quickly and effectively</li> <li> Resilient and able to operate effectively and independently under pressure</li> <li> Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively</li> <li> Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills</li> <li> Demonstrated experience managing accountabilities and stakeholders. High level of integrity and strong work ethic</li> </ul> <p></p> <p><b> Preferred Qualifications</b></p> <ul> <li> Law firm and/or in-house experience with patent litigation, commercial litigation and/or governments investigations</li> <li> Familiarity with US drug pricing, reimbursement, payer and channel landscape, and of the relevant laws governing commercial arrangements in healthcare</li> <li> Experience providing legal advice to oncology R&amp;D or commercial teams</li> <li> Experience advising global pharmaceutical/life-sciences organizations regarding R&amp;D or commercial matters</li> </ul> <p></p> <p><b> Why AstraZeneca</b></p> <p> At AstraZeneca when we see an opportunity for change, we seize it and make it happen, because any opportunity no matter how small, can be the start of something big.
