The DOJ is looking for two (2) highly motivated and talented individuals to join our Division of Legal Services as Assistant Attorneys General in the Criminal Litigation Unit. The area of focus of these positions will be as a Child Abuse Resource Prosecutor or as a Domestic Abuse &amp; Sexual Violence Resource Prosecutor. <br>This project position is headquartered at the Risser Justice Center located at 17 West Main Street in Madison. <br>This position will remain open until filled. For any questions, please contact Pamela Fredrick, Human Resources Specialist at fredrickpj@doj.state.wi.us or (608) 419-3546 . <br>Position Summary <br> <br> Under general supervision of an Assistant Attorney General Supervisor, this position provides a variety of legal services, through counsel and representation, to the Legislature, Governor, state agencies, corporation counsel and district attorneys. Enforce the statutes under the Attorney General’s jurisdiction. <br>The Domestic Abuse &amp; Sexual Violence Resource Prosecutor position will be responsible for enhancing the capability of Wisconsin prosecutors to effectively prosecute domestic abuse cases and sexual assault cases involving adults and children by providing training, education, technical support, and prosecution assistance to prosecutors and law enforcement. The position will be responsible for providing technical, trial, and training assistance to prosecutors statewide on the many issues surrounding the investigation and prosecution of domestic abuse and sexual assault cases and collaborating with the DOJ Sexual Assault Resource Prosecutor and the Violence Against Women Regional Prosecutors. <br>The Child Abuse Resource Prosecutor position will be responsible for enhancing the capability of Wisconsin prosecutors to effectively prosecute child abuse cases by providing training, education, technical support, and prosecution assistance to prosecutors and law enforcement. The position will be responsible for providing technical, trial, and training assistance to prosecutors statewide on the many issues surrounding the investigation and prosecution of child abuse cases. <br>Salary Information <br> <br> The Assistant Attorney General position is in pay schedule 09 and pay range 75. The starting pay will be between $36.00 - $54.00/hour (approx. $74,880 - $112,320 annually). Pay for current or former state employees will follow the provisions found in the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan. <br>Job Details <br> <br> Based on current funding, this project position is expected to end December 31, 2024 . As a project employee, you will continue to receive all rights and privileges afforded to original probationary employees by state law, with the exception of tenure, transfer, reinstatement and layoff benefits. <br>This position may be eligible to work remotely up to 95% as part of a hybrid schedule, following an initial training period. Reporting to the headquarters in Madison occasionally, including reporting on multiple consecutive workdays if needed. Travel to the headquarters is not eligible for travel reimbursement. <br>High speed internet access is required to meet the needs of remote work. <br>The Department of Justice does not sponsor work visas at the time of hire or anytime during employment. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form I-9. <br>A background check, including fingerprints, will be completed on applicants prior to selection. <br>Candidate must be a member in good standing with the Wisconsin State Bar upon appointment. <br>Qualifications <br> <br> Please address the following in your resume and/or letter of qualifications. <br>Minimally qualified applicants must have experience in the following : Analyzing facts and evidence in child abuse, domestic abuse, or sexual assault cases at the investigative and charging stages to identify and exhaust investigative leads, to make ethical and tactically sound charging decisions, and to anticipate motions. Serving as first chair in felony jury trials. Preparing and drafting pleadings (including complaints), motions and briefs in child abuse, sexual assault or domestic abuse cases. <br>In addition to the minimum qualifications, a well-qualified applicant will have experience in the following: Criminal law experience at the federal and/or state level including: prosecuting multiple child abuse cases, domestic abuse, and/or sexual assault offenses, and serving as first chair on multiple child abuse trials. Pretrial litigation strategies in child abuse, domestic abuse, and/or sexual assault prosecutions including but not limited to: presenting expert witness testimony, medical testimony, responding to discovery motions for privileged or confidential records, admitting medical records, 911 recordings, or experience with confrontation challenges. Working with Wisconsin law enforcement agencies, child maltreatment providers, sexual abuse professionals, and/or domestic abuse professionals.
