The salary range for this position is $133,488 - $173,551/annually, based on experience and education. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days. </div> <div></div> <div> What You’ll Do </div> <div> The Denver City’s Attorney’s Office seeks a senior level environmental attorney to be the next Assistant City Attorney for the Municipal Operations Section. </div> <div></div> <div> More generally, Municipal Operations provides full service legal representation and advice to City officials, agencies and employees in the areas of general municipal law, environmental regulation and compliance, construction contracts, procurement, government contracting, tax, municipal finance, bankruptcy, real estate, land use and commercial litigation. This section offers a steady stream of clients with an incredible variety of legal needs. The successful candidate will primarily represent the Department of Public Health &amp; Environment’s Environmental Quality Division and Denver’s Office of Climate Action, Sustainability and Resiliency. The ideal candidate will have experience with the major federal environmental statutes (e.g., CERCLA, RCRA, CWA, CAA) and have an interest representing a rapidly growing climate office that is committed to mitigating the effects of climate change. </div> <div></div> <div> The Denver City's Attorney's Office is one of the largest law firms in Colorado, with over 230 attorneys and staff members comprised of paralegals, victim advocates, and other support and supervisory staff members. The City Attorney's Office is dedicated to being an equitable, diverse, and inclusive work environment in which every person has the opportunity to achieve the highest professional and personal development and is accorded the highest degree of dignity and respect. </div> <div></div> <div> The responsibilities for this position include: </div> <ul> <li> <div> Advising and counseling executive leadership and staff from the Department of Public Health and Environment; the Office of Climate Action, Sustainability and Resiliency; and the Mayor’s Office regarding environmental law, renewable energy, government contracting, municipal law, administrative hearings and rulemakings, and related topics </div></li> <li> <div> Drafting and negotiating contracts and grant agreements </div></li> <li> <div> Participating in the City’s most complex real estate development projects as the senior expert on environmental issues </div></li> <li> <div> Drafting and interpreting City ordinances, rules and regulations, and charter requirements </div></li> <li> <div> Conducting and/or supervising legal research </div></li> <li> <div> As assigned by the City Attorney, providing City officers and employees with counsel and advice and formal legal opinions on complex matters, in specialized legal areas </div></li> <li> <div> Providing guidance to associate and entry level attorneys </div></li> <li> <div> Performing other related duties as assigned or requested. </div></li> </ul> <div></div> <div> What You’ll Bring </div> <div> Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience with: </div> <ul> <li> <div> CERCLA, RCRA, CWA, CAA, and/or renewable energy </div></li> <li> <div> Drafting and negotiating contracts </div></li> <li> <div> Municipal law </div></li> <li> <div> Administrative hearings and rulemakings </div></li> </ul> <div></div> <div> Preferred experience must be demonstrated on application/resume. </div> <div></div> <div> Required Minimum Qualifications </div> <ul> <li> <div> Education requirement: Doctor of Jurisprudence degree or Bachelor of Laws degree. </div></li> <li> <div> Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of experience as an attorney at law. </div></li> <li> <div> Education/Experience Equivalency: No substitution of experience for education is permitted. </div></li> <li> <div> License/Certifications: Possession of a license to practice law in Colorado from the Colorado Supreme Court by the date of hire or a reasonable expectation of becoming licensed by the Colorado Supreme Court by the date of hire in accordance with C.R.C.P. 203.2, 203.3, 203.4 and 205.6. </div></li> <li> <div> Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment. </div></li> </ul> <div></div> <div> <i> To be considered for an interview, you must attach a resume and cover letter addressing your experience or interest in these areas:</i> </div> <div></div> <div> 1.
