Senior Associate/Associate -EL/PL Large Loss (5+ years PQE)-Manchester - Catastrophic Injury and Large Loss Team A unique opportunity has arisen for a Senior Associate/Associate (ideally with 5+ years PQE) to work from our Manchester office. The role will be working in the Catastrophic Injury and Large Loss department within the Casualty region of the firm, specialising in ’large loss’ claims. The team is a close-knit team of 11 consisting of Partners, Legal Directors, Senior Associates, an NQ, a Paralegal and support staff and they are looking to grow the team with a new Associate. The team deals with a wide variety of complex and high value hourly rate work for major insurers and private nominations, including cases such as brain injury, amputation, pain syndrome, burn injuries and claims involving assault, abuse or neglect - so no two days are the same! The team has also acted in multiple, significant group litigations. The Role A unique opportunity has arisen for a Senior Associate/Associate (ideally with 5+ years PQE) to work from our Manchester office. The ideal candidate will be a talented Solicitor/Associate/Senior Associate who will be able to hit the ground running and handle a multi-track caseload of large loss Employers’ Liability and Public Liability claims working on behalf of the major insurance firms. There would also be the opportunity to assist senior members of the team and Partners with complex, high value large loss claims up to and exceeding £1million and mentor junior members of the team handling fast-track work. The team offers a supportive environment and a hybrid working week with 2 days in our new Manchester office and 3 days working from home. Key Responsibilities Acting and assisting on Employers’ Liability and Public Liability claims on behalf of leading insurers and insureds working on cases from £50k to over £1million. Handling own multi-track caseload and assisting solicitors and partners with complex, high value, personal injury and group litigation claims. Drafting pleadings, prepare own liability strategies, reporting to clients, drafting witness statements, preparing instructions to counsel and experts and attending in conference and trials, conducting negotiations and attendance at a variety of ADR formats. Conducting research and keeping up to date with legal and industry practices. Essential Skills & Experience Experience of running a multi-track, EL/ PL caseload including experience of determining liability. Experience of working within a large loss team. Previous experience of Defendant personal injury litigation. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail. The ability to meet deadlines and work efficiently and effectively. A professional manner with the ability to build relationships internally and externally. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent academic background.
