Kennedys is looking for an Associate to join the Property, Energy and Construction team in Manchester, in order to manage a varied caseload of matters covering the team’s core areas. Team The Kennedys PEC team specialises in property, energy and construction insurance claims, assisting insurers and reinsurers of major multi-national companies in relation to their global exposures. We provide coverage advice and defend high-value, international and complex claims. Our highly-regarded lawyers are located across our integrated international network of offices, delivering a seamless legal service. The property damage team dovetails with our specialist experience in construction and energy both of which have excellent records for innovative, commercially aware specialist advice. We also handle civil unrest claims both under all risks and specific SRCC/political violence policies. We provide clients with a full service in relation to their property claims, from coverage advice, defence of third party property damage claims and subrogated recoveries. We have been instructed on some of the market’s most high profile matters. Examples include: advising insurers worldwide relating to business interruption claims arising from COVID-19; acting for the property insurer of the Grenfell Tower following the tragic fire in 2017; defending claims from multiple UK householders and businesses arising from a chemical explosion involving an aerosol factory; providing coverage advice and defending a c.£150 claim arising out of damage to the Egyptian Natural Gas Company’s pipeline caused by terrorists; pursuing recoveries for insurers’ losses arising from the fire at Ferrybridge C Power Station in 2014 and the fire at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park in 2018.
