Dentons US LLP is recruiting for a Senior Lateral Conflicts Attorney. This position is remote and open to any Dentons US Location. This position will work as part of the Lateral Conflicts team in the US Region and will be responsible for review and analysis of potential conflicts of interest and other issues related to the clearance of lateral candidates, their potentially transferring new clients and new matters, and potential firm growth opportunities. Responsibilities Review and provide thorough and timely analysis of lateral candidates’ prior work, and related transferring new business in order to identify legal and business conflicts of interest Utilize available internal and external databases to review and analyze conflicts of interest reports Facilitate resolution of potential conflicts issues for lateral candidates and potentially transferring work Engage with regional stakeholders, including GCs, HR personnel, and sponsoring lawyers Advise as to necessary clearances and waivers as may be required for lateral candidates to join the firm and onboard transferring work Assist in drafting waivers and engagement letters or other documentation for Partner review and/or submission to clients Assist as requested with the onboarding of lateral candidates and opening of any portable clients and matters Review and analyze any potential legal or commercial conflicts issues related to potential firm growth opportunities Proactively communicate with department leadership on complex conflicts questions and other compliance issues Maintain thorough, accurate and current records of all conflicts resolutions in order to ensure integrity of the database and assist in identification and clearing of future conflicts of interest Investigate and resolve erroneous, outdated or otherwise incomplete data on conflicts reports in order to maintain integrity of information in firm conflicts database and other records These duties may be ongoing or ad hoc in nature Other duties as may be assigned to fully meet the requirements of the position Qualifications Ideal candidate should have a JD and must be licensed to practice law with at least 5 years of legal experience and 5 years of conflicts clearance experience Prior experience working with law firms or corporate legal departments Strong oral and written communication skills required Ability to work productively with firm personnel at all levels Able to demonstrate excellent customer/client facing skills Strong analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills required Methodical approach to work with a strong focus on accuracy, attention to details, consistency and quality Able to effectively negotiate with and influence colleagues and others to achieve a successful outcome Strong legal research skills. In addition, stay current with recent research and thinking on ethics and conflicts best practices and rules across jurisdictions in which the firm has offices Maintain a sophisticated, relevant base of knowledge in these areas Able to work under pressure to tight project deadlines and can adapt to differing demands, prioritizing tasks where appropriate and ensuring complete ’follow through’ on outstanding issues.
