About this role: <br> <br> Wells Fargo is seeking a Counsel in Legal as part of the Public Affairs Section of the Public, Regulatory and Corporate Affairs Division of the Legal Department. Wells Fargo is seeking a counsel supporting activities relating to the Company's engagement efforts on public affairs related items (including items that may relate to legislative advocacy, philanthropy, and external communications). <br> <br> For additional information on this line of business, refer to the external Careers Site at Wellsfargo.com/career. <br> <br> <b>In this role you will:</b> <ul> <li> Provide guidance typically to internal clients on legal matters to assist with legal risk assessment, planning and policy decisions, or claims against the Company.</li> <li> Provide advice on the impact of policy, legal, and regulatory changes.</li> <li> Work is typically performed with some oversight from, or in support of, more senior counsel, and complex issues are escalated as necessary</li> <li> Collaborate within the department and across business and staff functions to address legal and risk issues in a manner consistent with the best interests of Wells Fargo.</li> <li> Participate in initiatives of varying scope that are typically moderately complex</li> <li> Provide guidance to less experienced counsel or paralegals</li> <li> Partner and coordinate with outside counsel on engagements</li> <li> Research and analyze proposed state and federal regulations, legislation, and other regulatory issuances to help identify compliance requirements applicable to the Company and coordinate across the legal department, based on an understanding of the Company's lines of business and risk management framework.</li> </ul><b> Required Qualifications:</b> <ul> <li> 2+ years of Law experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.</li> <li> Active State Bar membership</li> </ul><b> Desired Qualifications:</b> <ul> <li> Experience as a practicing attorney.</li> <li> Ability to research law and regulations and develop advice with respect to complex legal issues using public as well as company websites and databases.</li> <li> Experience with political law matters preferred.</li> <li> Strong attention to detail and accuracy.</li> <li> Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.</li> <li> Experience preparing legal memoranda for senior attorneys and business leaders.</li> <li> Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced complex environment with a high degree of collaboration.</li> <li> Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work while handling multiple matters</li> <li> Effective in building partnerships, functioning well with project teams, and working for the success of the team</li> <li> Ability to use online research tools, such as Westlaw, legislative monitoring websites and government websites as well as navigate within internal databases.</li> <li> Experience researching laws and regulations across various subject matter areas.</li> <li> Knowledge of legislative and regulatory processes.</li> <li> Broad knowledge of Wells Fargo businesses, services and product lines.</li> </ul><b> Posting End Date:</b> <br> 18 Apr 2024 <br> <b>*Job posting may come down early due to volume of applicants.</b> <br> <br> <b>We Value Diversity</b> <br> <br> At Wells Fargo, we believe in diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace; accordingly, we welcome applications for employment from all qualified candidates, regardless of race, color, gender, national origin, religion, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, genetic information, individuals with disabilities, pregnancy, marital status, status as a protected veteran or any other status protected by applicable law. <br> <br> Employees support our focus on building strong customer relationships balanced with a strong risk mitigating and compliance-driven culture which firmly establishes those disciplines as critical to the success of our customers and company.
