Negotiable; commensurate with education and/or experience, if approved. <br> <br> Schedule: 8am - 5pm (Monday - Friday) <br> <br> Location: NSOB - Lincoln </div> </div> <div> <b>Examples of Work</b> </div> <div> <p>This position will assist in the development and management of the agency’s privacy program.<br> <br> This will include keeping up-to-date with pertinent state and federal laws; conducting legal research on complex areas of law involving privacy; leading HIPAA and privacy investigations; completing required reporting; conducting privacy risk assessments and creating HIPAA and privacy compliant processes and procedures.<br> <br> Developing and oversee privacy training for agency personnel; reviewing contracts, business associate agreements, and data use agreements for privacy compliance and requirements; coordinate with vendors on report privacy incidents; coordinate with internal personnel on vendor management issues related to privacy; reviewing documents and data for HIPAA compliance; and providing legal advice to agency personnel on privacy related issues.<br> <br> This position may assist with data governance and compliance reviews. This may include assisting with internal compliance reviews and monitoring activities; and developing, maintaining, and training agency personnel on issues related to data governance and the release of confidential information.<br> <br> This position may also assist with regulation drafting and promulgation, including editing and reviewing regulations and guidance documents on an as needed basis. This position may also assists with public records requests, including reviewing, processing, and responding to requests on an as needed basis.</p> </div> <div> <b>Qualifications / Requirements</b> </div> <p></p> <div> <div> REQUIREMENTS: Three years of experience as an attorney practicing law and providing legal services such as preparing and trying cases, advising clients, and/or interpreting laws or administrative policies. <br> <br> PREFERRED: HIPAA and Privacy experience; Privacy certifications (CIPP, CIPM, CHPC) </div> </div> <p></p> <div> <b>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</b> </div> <div> <p>Knowledge of: State and/or federal statutory and case law and constitutional provisions pertinent to agency programs; the techniques of preparing or drafting legal document and forms; judicial procedures and rules of evidence; the principles and practices of legal research; the procedures of trial and administrative hearings; the principles and practices of criminal and civil law administration.<br> <br> Skill in: preparing summaries, legal analyses, findings and conclusions, briefs and other legal documents, negotiating and communicating with others sufficient to persuade their acceptance of contentious goals or viewpoints; analyzing and interpreting various factors, perspectives, and options and applying critical thinking to resolve issues.<br> <br> Ability to: interpret and apply statutes, case law, decisions of court/administrative hearings, and administrative rules and policies on a variety of legal issues; effectively communicate and interact with legal associates, other government employees, and the public; conduct legal research; formulate legal opinions and recommendations based on legal research; identify critical elements of legal questions or issues; and use a computer for word processing and research.</p> </div> </div> </div> <br> <p></p> <div> <div> <div> <div> We offer a comprehensive package of pay, benefits, paid time off, retirement and professional development opportunities to help you get the most out of your career and life.
