What to Expect
Tesla is looking for a talented Sr. Counsel, Construction to join our legal team. In this role, you will support construction, CapEx and business teams on a variety of transactions and negotiations. The ideal candidate will have exposure to various fields including contracting, construction, permitting, and general commercial transactions including NDAs, supply agreements, equipment purchase, and lease agreements, general contract management, legal research, warranty notices, mechanics liens, construction claim management notices. A background that incorporates a mixture of law firm and in-house experience is ideal. A strong background in all facets of commercial and real estate/construction law is required, and a background in litigation is preferred.
What You’ll Do
<ul>
<li> Primarily support the EPC, manufacturing, engineering and purchasing teams on the procurement of goods and services used in construction projects across the United States</li>
<li> Manage and negotiate a high volume and wide range of commercial contracts, primarily in the area of construction and equipment purchases, but also including utility agreements, logistics and warehousing agreements, technology licensing agreements, development agreements, services agreements, and confidentiality agreements</li>
<li> Provide advice on a wide variety of strategic, regulatory, and transactional matters</li>
<li> Facilitate resolution of legal disputes</li>
<li> Prepare and maintain contract forms to support Tesla’s businesses and areas of operation in the United States</li>
<li> As needed, assist in transactions to support the construction, infrastructure and production equipment teams within the global legal team</li>
<li> Liaise with colleagues outside of the United States to ensure consistency of contracts and risk allocation across the various Tesla businesses</li>
</ul>
What You’ll Bring
<ul>
<li> Law degree with excellent academic credentials</li>
<li> Minimum of 8+ years of practice experience; combination of law firm and in-house experience preferred</li>
<li> Excellent communication skills</li>
<li> Team player with the ability to proactively identify problems, drive projects, make complex cost/benefit assessments, be resourceful and identify pragmatic/creative legal and business solutions</li>
<li> Ability to work both independently and collaboratively and to juggle competing priorities in a fast-paced, challenging environment</li>
<li> Quick and flexible learner, intellectually curious, open-minded, adaptable, comfortable with ambiguity and risk, and excited by dynamic change</li>
