Summer Associate Program

Borgelt, Powell, Peterson & Frauen SC

Borgelt, Powell, Peterson & Frauen S.C.’s Summer Associate Program is our most important tool for hiring new associates. The firm’s emphasis in hiring is based on strong academic performance and involvement in trial advocacy, moot court, or law review. We also look for individuals who fit our firm’s culture. The summer program’s primary goal is to provide real life examples of what your work-life balance will be while practicing law at a midsize regional firm. As a summer associate, you can expect to work with a diverse group of attorneys from multiple practice areas. Most of the work you will perform will be part of a larger project we have undertaken for our clients or our firm seminar. The work is never unnecessary or busywork. It is our expectation that some of your work will be incorporated into our final product and that your time will be billed to the client. You will receive real-world practical experience by attending court proceedings, deposition, hearings, and much more. If you successfully complete the summer program and remain in the Milwaukee Metro area, the firm may extend an offer for part-time work through-out the rest of the school year. Mentorship Program Mentorship begins with our Summer Associate Program, and continues as you advance as an associate. You will learn from attorneys at all levels of the law firm and you will be assigned a Mentor Attorney. In addition to informal day-to-day feedback from the attorneys with whom you work, you will also receive an annual evaluation. Your Mentor will be more than just another "boss," they will be someone you can trust and turn to for help with the growing pains of being a new attorney and to discuss your work and life goals.
