Position Summary Our Washington, DC office has an opportunity for a mid-level litigation associate to join the firm’s dynamic and long-established practice representing premier local and national employers. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated attorney who wants to assume a significant role in all aspects of a management-side labor and employment law practice. This role requires substantial responsibility and extensive contact with clients, opposing counsel, and government agencies. Duties include, but are not limited to, legal research and writing; drafting briefs, motions, and pleadings; handling court appearances, witness interviews, and internal investigations; propounding and responding to discovery, drafting position statements for the EEOC and NLRB, and handling grievance arbitrations. They also include counseling clients on employment-related matters, updating clients on new developments in the law, drafting and revising human resources policies, and preparing employee handbooks. The right candidate will have a commitment to excellence in legal practice, strong analytical, research, and writing skills, a willingness to master employment law and an ability to relate to and inspire confidence of senior attorneys and sophisticated business clients. Requirements Juris Doctor. Qualified candidates must be and remain licensed to practice law and in good standing in both DC and either Maryland or Virginia. Candidates must possess 1+ years of litigation experience, employment litigation experience is a plus Excellent analytical, writing and communication skills are required.
