<br> The Deputy General Counsel, Corporate, will be a key member of Legal leadership and be responsible for leading all legal work on BD, licensing, alliance management, clinical operations, R&D and related corporate and contract matters with other attorneys in the legal department and in collaboration with other corporate departments such as corporate strategy, finance, IT and corporate communications. This role reports directly to the General Counsel and will contribute to department management, including staffing/personnel matters, budgeting, department goals and initiatives, and act as a liaison to other attorneys in the department and attorneys in the organizations with whom BlueRock has a business relationship. As a leader on our Legal team, this role will provide strategic guidance on best practices and risk tolerance across our continuing efforts.

<h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Responsibilities</b></h3>
<ul>

<li> Lead and drive strategy on the team’s and the company’s contracting processes, including the adoption of contracting best practices and technology tools</li>
<li> Maintain and improve productive and efficient ways of working with a wide range of cross-functional colleagues and subject-matter experts</li>
<li> Partner with leadership throughout the company to ensure smooth, efficient, practical and quality coordination between the business and legal teams on contract processes</li>
<li> Advise on and resolve contract negotiation escalations and potential contract disputes</li>
<li> Lead and develop a team of legal and contract professionals working on an important client-facing team</li>
<li> Manage outside counsel and contract team budget</li>
<li> Actively participate in stakeholder meetings with business development, alliance management and with collaborators and affiliates</li>

<h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Minimum Requirements</b></h3>
<ul>

<li> J.D. from a national law school and admission to at least one state bar in the United States;</li>
<li> Minimum of 15 years practicing law</li>
<li> Minimum of 6 years experience drafting and negotiating contracts for R&D stage life sciences companies</li>
<li> Experience advising business development, alliance management, corporate strategy</li>
<li> Leadership and supervisory experience</li>
<li> Strong communication skills</li>
<li> Background in cell/gene therapy, cell/molecular biology, immunology or other similar science is strongly desired</li>
<li> Experience with international transactions and in cell and gene therapy are strongly desired</li>
