Meta seeks a highly motivated attorney, who is enthusiastic about technology and its potential for positive impact in peoples’ lives, to join Meta’s privacy counseling legal team. This role will focus on supporting Meta’s internal research teams and their projects, and will require significant cross-functional collaboration with product, research, engineering, policy, operations, and business teams, as well as other legal subject matter experts. This is a unique opportunity to join a legal team working on novel issues in an exciting, fast-paced environment, as we build and scale for our global community. <br> <br> <br> <b>Lead Counsel, Privacy Responsibilities: </b><br> <ul> <li>Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in areas of data use and protection laws (including U.S. state and federal privacy laws, GDPR, LGPD and other existing and emerging global privacy laws) and counsel internal research and product teams on the practical impact of those laws</li> <li> Work closely with product lawyers, researchers and product/engineering teams to provide global privacy-forward advice, design policies/playbooks to maintain compliance with local privacy laws and regulations</li> <li> Drive high-profile and high-impact projects involving privacy analysis and compliance with cross-functional stakeholders across Meta's business, policy, legal, communications, security, and other departments</li> <li> Help develop and conduct role-specific privacy trainings across Meta</li> <li> Manage internal privacy compliance programs and processes to ensure we meet our obligations under those programs</li> </ul> <br> <br> <br> <b>Minimum Qualifications:</b><br> <ul> <li> J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one US state bar</li> <li> 5+ years of legal experience, including at a law firm and/or in-house experience</li> <li> Experience with and working knowledge of privacy issues and laws</li> <li> Experience advising on privacy legal risks and mitigations, with working knowledge of relevant privacy laws</li> <li> Experience business judgment, client counseling skills, a effective work ethic, and sense of curiosity to learn about new technologies and areas of the law</li> <li> Effective skills with attention to detail and experience to clearly communicate legal concepts and requirements to non-legal audiences</li> <li> Effective communication and presentation skills</li> </ul> <br> <br> <br> <b>Preferred Qualifications:</b><br> <ul> <li> In-house experience counseling research teams, particularly at a technology company or academic institution</li> <li> Experience advancing projects in a multi-stakeholder environment</li> <li> Experience explaining complex topics, and gaining support and consensus from multiple stakeholders</li> </ul> <br> <br> <br> <b>About Meta:</b><br> Meta builds technologies that help people connect, find communities, and grow businesses.
