If you're wired to raise your hand and ask, "Where can I help?", you'll thrive with us.</p> </div> <p> Argo Surety currently has a challenging opportunity to work in the Chicago, IL office as an AVP, Surety Claims.</p> <p><b> RESPONSIBILTIES</b></p> <ul> <li>Thoroughly analyze, investigate, negotiate and resolve both commercial and contract surety Bond claims.</li> <li>Retain, manage, and work with outside counsel in claim, indemnity and regulatory matters.</li> <li>Extensively communicate with internal and external customers on surety claims and legal matters.</li> <li>Review, analyze, draft, and revise contracts, bond forms, indemnity agreements, non-disclosure agreements, co-surety agreements and other surety agreements and documents.</li> <li>Advise underwriting on surety related legal issues.</li> <li>Pursue salvage and subrogation opportunities</li> <li>Assist with special projects including legal research, drafting, document review and other assignments.</li> </ul> <p><b>QUALIFICATIONS</b></p> <ul> <li>Juris doctor required. Authorized and in good standing to practice law in any U.S. state.</li> <li>10 - 15 years' experience as an attorney at a surety and/or construction law firm defending surety and/or construction claims and/or enforcing surety indemnity rights/general indemnity agreements is preferred.</li> <li>Superior legal skills, including research, analysis, writing, and verbal skills are required.</li> <li>A relentless desire to continually update your skill level through continuing education and self-development (we're a bit fanatical about this, so you should be too).</li> <li>Experience in international law especially international surety/reinsurance/insurance legal issues, regulatory compliance, indemnity/guarantee agreements is a plus.</li> <li>Foreign language skills are a plus, but not mandatory.</li> <li>You will work as part of a team, so you must be a team player and must be comfortable collaborating to achieve common goals in a team environment.
