SUMMARY: Personal Injury Protection Paralegals work directly to support attorneys through the life cycle of cases. Paralegals conduct fact-finding projects and are responsible for maintaining all case files. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Respond to Discovery Requests, to include requests for production, requests for admissions, and interrogatories; prepare defense discovery requests; monitoring and obtaining discovery responses from opposing counsel. • Prepare various types of motions, pleadings, exhibits, and correspondence. • Processing of pleadings, motions, and correspondence (e-service and physical) and use of the Florida e-filing portal. • Prepare materials in support of pleadings, motions, and depositions; to include legal research (prior use of Westlaw preferred). • Accomplishes law firm mission by completing other duties as needed. JOB STANDARDS: Education and Experience: Any combination equivalent to the education and experience likely to provide knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Experience: Must have three to five (3-5) years of insurance defense paralegal experience, PIP and BI insurance defense is a plus, to perform the described job functions and meet the position’s critical skills, abilities, and expertise. Knowledge of Time Matters, Juris Suite and Acuity is a plus, with proficiency in Word processing, Excel, Access, email/Outlook, PowerPoint, and other Window based applications/software.
