About the role Our Melbourne based Professional & Financial Disputes team is seeking exceptional insurance litigation Associates with between 1-3 years’ experience to join our busy, growing and highly respected practice. The role is broad and will involve you working across all the partners on a range of contentious insurance matters, exposing you to an excellent depth of mentoring and career development opportunities. You will also work closely with and report to senior lawyers highly experienced in professional indemnity, directors’ and officers’ coverage and defence work. Matters may include general insurance, life insurance, professional indemnity, financial lines, directors’ and officers’ insurance, defence and coverage disputes, medical indemnity, personal injury, public and products liability, regulatory disputes, and indemnity and regulatory advice. The nature and size of the team will mean that you will be heavily involved in all aspects of matters. Within the supportive environment, this allows you the autonomy and development opportunity to drive and make a significant contribution to the matter outcome. Further, you will be encouraged to foster and generate client relationships and will have the opportunity to engage in business development frequently. Key skills and experience We’re looking for ambitious lawyers who enjoy working as part of a dynamic and collaborative team with the following experience: 1-3 years of solid, consistent insurance litigation experience gained from a respected defendant or plaintiff law firm is essential. Excellent academic credentials, self-driven, enthusiastic, genuinely passionate about developing your career within insurance, with superb verbal and written communications skills. Strong time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities effectively. Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skulls, as well as the ability to work independently. Commercial awareness and confidence in building a rapport with clients to gain a better understanding of their business’ needs and with the assistance of the partner, actively developing these client relationships.
