Emmanuel, Sheppard & Condon is looking for experienced Legal Assistant/Paralegal to assist in the personal injury department of our Pensacola office. The right candidate will be able to enhance attorney effectiveness by providing information management support and representing the attorney to clients and others. Assist attorney with preparation of legal documents, correspondence and investigating facts. Other duties include filing, scanning, timekeeping, scheduling and answering phones. BENEFITS Medical, Vision & Dental Insurance Employee Assistance Program Paid Time Off Group Life Insurance/LTD Paid Holidays Wellness Program 401(k) Tuition Reimbursement EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE College degree or paralegal certificate preferred 3+ years employment law and/or personal injury experience preferred REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Working knowledge of the Florida Rules of Civil Procedure E-Filing Analytical capabilities Detail oriented and organized Ability to take direction from attorneys and determine priority of assigned work Ability to work with little supervision, using effective interpersonal, cooperative and communication skills Task oriented with the ability to meet deadlines Good problem-solving, critical thinking and analytical skills Team player ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Drafting/preparing documents including but not limited to requests for medical records, pleadings, motions, orders, settlement demands and correspondence Preparation of discovery requests and responses Verify and request reduction of liens and outstanding medical expense balances Correspond with insurance adjusters regarding insurance coverage and claim status Daily contact with clients regarding treatment status, medical condition and claim status Analyze medical records and documents relating to the claim Conduct legal research relating to pleading and motion preparation Large document control and indexing Calendaring and deadline computation and tickle system Schedule hearings, mediations, and depositions. Electronically file documents with the court Manage assigned case load Other duties as assigned PHYSICAL DEMANDS For physical demands of this position see Human Resources.
