# **Attorney-Advisor (General) (Law & Policy)** Division/Office: Legal - Law & Policy Closing date: Nov. 2, 2022 Location: Washington, DC or remote Grades: 51, 52, 53 Salary: $83,282–170,560 Who may apply: Open to All US Citizens (Excepted service – Term Only) #### **Summary** This is a Term position in the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), Legal Division. The incumbent serves as an Attorney-Advisor and performs duties in the Legal Division's Office of Law & Policy. The incumbent advises the Director and Bureau components on the Bureau's authorities and jurisdiction, the interpretation of Federal consumer financial statutes and regulations, and matters of administrative law. #### **Responsibilities** The following are the duties of this position at the CN-53, broadly equivalent to the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, your duties will be adjusted accordingly. Attorneys at CFPB may be eligible for promotions subject to the Bureau's Attorney Hiring & Promotion Policy. * Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of more complex legal issues (e.g., statutes, regulations, policies) applicable to a broader range of legal functions in the Bureau. * Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of straightforward and complex legal issues and readily grasp and proactively identify complex issues needed to perform assignments. * Lead certain aspects of matters and issues relating to constitutional and administrative law, consumer finance law, the Dodd-Frank Act, and other laws and regulations arising out of the CFPB's exercise of its rulemaking, supervisory, enforcement, and other authorities with minimal guidance. * Review rulemaking and other documents, research and provide written and/or oral analyses to answer questions regarding the effects of provisions of proposed legislation, or proposed changes in agency policies or regulations. **Travel Required** * Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position. **Promotion potential** * 00 - Applicants will be selected at any one of the advertised grades based on experience and accomplishments.
