<p> Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lawyers Professional Liability underwriter to join our team based in our NY office. We are looking for a hard-working teammate who values collaborative culture and is focused on building a portfolio based on profitability over top-line growth.</p>
<p><b> Duties & Responsibilities:</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Continue to establish BHSI’s presence as a leader in the LPL market.</li>
<li>Establish, develop, and expand broker and customer relationships.</li>
<li>Underwrite complex and challenging risks while developing creative solutions for our partners.</li>
<li>Execute on underwriting strategy focused on profitable growth of the overall portfolio.</li>
<li>Be a positive reflection on the company by demonstrating integrity and leadership in the marketplace.</li>
<li>Effectively communicate BHSI’s value proposition to brokers and customers.</li>
<li>Work closely with our in-house claims team to help create a positive and transparent experience for our customers.</li>
<li>Collaborate with teammates across all product lines.</li>
<li>Up to 30% travel will be required.</li>

<p><b> Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Strong technical skills in Lawyers Professional Liability.</li>
<li>Experienced marketing to large, specialized brokers.</li>
<li>Proven client development experience.</li>
<li>Collaborative and team-focused mentality.</li>
<li>Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.</li>
<li>BA/BS degree or equivalent experience.</li>
<li>5-10+ years of experience underwriting Lawyers Professional Liability.</li>

<p>The base salary range for this position is from $125,000 to $200,000, along with annual bonus eligibility; a candidate’s salary is determined by their relevant skills and experience. We value our teammates – both their capabilities and character – as demonstrated by our amazing culture.</p>
