<p><b><br> CenterPoint Energy</b> is looking for a<b> Counsel I/II </b>to join our <b>Regulatory Legal CenterPoint Energy Indiana and Ohio Team</b>, located in <b>Indianapolis, IN</b>. </p>
<p>You will have the ability to: <b>ensure that business practices, policies, and dealings of the Company meet all applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Represent the Company in regulatory proceedings, interprets and prepares legal documents, and provide counsel on legal and regulatory matters. Provide analysis of proposed legislation and its potential impact on the Company, drafts proposed legislation, and manage defense of the Company in judicial and regulatory proceedings.</b></p>

<p><b>To be successful in this role you will:</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Provide legal advice and recommendations to the Company for action regarding matters of some complexity, which have or may have a material dollar impact on business activities and operations.</li>
<li>Represent the Company in regulatory proceedings before state, federal, and municipal regulatory jurisdictions.</li>
<li>Support governmental affairs activities by reviewing and/or drafting proposed legislation.</li>
<li>Prepare correspondence, legal memoranda and contracts.</li>
<li>Provide day-to-day counseling and advice to officers and managers of the Company.</li>
<li>Act as supervising authority over outside counsel on projects or specific areas of practice.</li>

<p><b><br> Your background includes:</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s degree and a J.D. (Doctor of Jurisprudence) degree required from an accredited law school. </li>
<li>3-5 years’ experience at a law firm or as in-house counsel and must be eligible to practice in the State of Indiana and/or Ohio.</li>
</ul>

<p><b>A bonus to have:</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Experience in energy and utilities, including with generation, gas transmission, and distribution, is strongly desired. </li>
<li>Experience (1) in Indiana practicing before the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission; (2) in Ohio practicing before the Public Utilities Commisison of Ohio; or (3) with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is a plus.</li>
