Candidates should have a passion for community development and problem solving. <br> <br> This position will be responsible for legal representation of the agency as a member of the Disaster Recovery Division. Apply to join our team today! <br> <br> Location: Hybrid/Remote; Lincoln or Omaha, 245 Fallbrook Blvd, Ste. 002, Lincoln, NE 68521 </div> </div> <div> <b>Examples of Work</b> </div> <div> <p>Research and advise staff on federal regulations (e.g., HUD, CDBG-DR, cross-cutting federal requirements, duplication of benefits), promulgate program rules and regulations, create policy documents, contract management for requests for proposal and other procurement-related responsibilities, create service contracts and grant agreements, and act as a liaison to the compliance team lead for federally funded projects.<br> <br> Collaborate with team leads to develop or update internal controls and policies designed to ensure that all program compliance needs are met for implementation, including reporting and audit requirements. Develop written products, policy memos, and other tools in support of grantee/subrecipient policies and procedures, program implementation, and project design.<br> <br> Analyze current processes and work with management team leads to identify, document, and prioritize process improvements (e.g., streamline reporting requirements).<br> <br> Other responsibilities as assigned and within the scope of the classification.</p> </div> <div> <b>Qualifications / Requirements</b> </div> <div> <p>REQUIREMENTS: One year of experience as an attorney practicing law and providing legal services such as preparing cases, advising clients, and/or interpreting laws or administrative policies.<br> <br> PREFERRED: Experience with HUD funding and policy, particularly CDBG or CDBG-DR program administration including planning, program design, program management, analysis, and monitoring and compliance. Experience with financial and grants management. Experience with affordable housing development or real estate law. Two years’ experience as an attorney practicing law and providing legal services such as preparing and trying cases, advising clients, and/or interpreting laws or administrative policies. In accordance with Section 7-101, Nebraska Revised, Reissued Statutes of 1943, incumbents in this class must be admitted to the Nebraska Bar.<br> <br> OTHER: Regular and reliable attendance is required. This position requires occasional travel and overnight stays. As such, the incumbent must be able to present a valid driver’s license or another form of reliable transportation.<br> <br> SPECIAL NOTE: Please upload a writing sample. Knowledge of the procedures of grant management. Experience serving in a client-facing role. Ability to work successfully with socio-economic and ethnically diverse populations. Ability to produce technically and programmatically sound deliverables with little oversight (writing sample is a prerequisite). Facilitate creation and execution of program policies, including identification and evaluation of alternative policy options and their projected outcomes. Ability to work independently under general supervision.
