Arnold & Porter is seeking a mid-level associate to join our International Arbitration Practice Group in Washington, DC. Our International Arbitration group is one of the largest and most experienced in the world, as highlighted in Chambers USA, Chambers Global, Chambers Latin America, The Legal 500 US, The Legal 500 Latin America, The Legal 500 UK, Global Arbitration Review, International Legal Alliance Summit, LatinLawyer, and US News & World Report, among other publications. The group includes lawyers from both common and civil law backgrounds, with regional specialties and multilingual capabilities. Many have significant experience with Washington, DC and multilateral policy matters, having served in the US Departments of State, Commerce, Treasury, and Justice, the US Congress, and multilateral organizations in Washington such as the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). The group represents companies and individuals, as well as sovereign States and state-owned companies and entities, in investor-state and commercial arbitrations, before international arbitral institutions worldwide, and under a variety of arbitral rules, including ICSID, UNCITRAL, ICC, LCIA, AAA/ICDR, and various chambers of commerce and industry-specific institutions. Qualified applicants for this position must have experience in the following: representing clients in international arbitrations under the rules of the major arbitral institutions (e.g., the ICC or ICSID), as well as experience participating in international investment and commercial arbitrations arising from any region; drafting pleadings, assisting with hearings, interviewing witnesses, as well as reviewing civil law sources. Finally, all applicants should have excellent academic credentials and references.
