DGS seeks to hire an experienced Paralegal to work within our Trust & Estate practice group. Ideal candidates will have at lest 10 years of legal experience with a trust and estate focus. Successful candidates will be proactive self-starters, who possess excellent client service skills and attention to detail. Part time or full time candidates will be considered. Summary This position provides support and assistance to supervising attorneys in all facets of trust and estate planning and administration. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, meeting with clients, trustees and family members; communicating with beneficiaries; drafting correspondence and legal documents; preparing deeds, asset spreadsheets and probate pleadings; preparing federal estate tax returns and gift tax returns; reviewing bank statements; notarizing documents; and organizing and maintaining client files. Essential Functions Maintain a working knowledge of general probate, trusts, and estate process and rules, use of appropriate forms Draft probate, trust, and estate planning documents Address probate, trust, and estate administration issues Prepare and file beneficiary designation forms Prepare estate and gift tax accountings and tax returns Preparation of post-execution materials and correspondence for estate planning Communicate with clients, trustees, courts, family members and financial institutions Records billable hours in firm billing system Other duties as assigned Required Skills/Abilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent interpersonal and client service skills; professional demeanor and a high level of empathy Excellent attention to detail and proofreading skills Understanding of trusts and estate legal procedures and processes Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks Proactive work stye with ability to work independently Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and/or related software Maintain Colorado Notary license Supervisory Role None Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment with some ability to work from home. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. Because this position will be handling client information, employees must work from a home office and not a public location during any remote periods. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work The position is open to full-time or part-time hours. DGS core business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. This position offers flexible options in hours. Billable hours requirement is flexible based on hours of work.
