About Peerpoint Peerpoint is Allen & Overy’s global platform for self-directed consultant lawyers who want to access the best work, clients, resources and bespoke support, whilst working on assignments with Allen & Overy or directly with clients as a legal consultant. Typical assignments based in Abu Dhabi or Dubai are 6 months in length and there are flexible working arrangements available. We are able to offer our consultants opportunities to work either locally or remotely into other jurisdictions. Likewise, we have opportunities within the UAE and Middle East for consultants based remotely for clients from locations such as the UK, Australia, Singapore or Hong Kong. Key Skills We are currently looking for qualified lawyers with a minimum of four years’ post qualification experience in banking and finance including general corporate lending, project finance, restructuring and Islamic finance to join our UAE panel. Ideally you will have : A minimum of two years’ post-qualification experience at a top tier law firm with some in house experience either via secondment or directly A strong technical skill set within transactional banking, project finance, Islamic finance or general banking and finance Had exposure to the banking and finance Middle East market A strong desire to develop your career as a consultant. This would include both soft skills such as resiliency, adaptability, self discipline and autonomy but also have the desire to work in fast paced, forward thinking environments Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to interface at all levels, building strong relationships internally and externally Have excellent academic credentials; and Have a practising certificate (or equivalent) which entitles them to practise as a lawyer. Examples of recent opportunities Banking lawyer supporting A&O’s banking practice in Dubai with the IBOR transition for a number of financial institution clients Restructuring lawyer working within A&O’s banking practice supporting a number of clients in relation to potential liquidity issues and restructuring options on an ad hoc basis. Banking lawyer supporting a leading investment bank’s finance team covering conventional and Islamic finance as well as assisting with LIBOR transition project work General banking lawyer to join a leading global bank to support the transactional team What can consulting offer you? Assignments can range from three to twelve months in duration and will vary in hours. In the Allen & Overy UAE practice to support a specific client or the practice generally during peak volumes. We have consultants that step into the team on an ad hoc basis and those who work regularly to support the Practice.We only take you on when we see a demand for your particular expertise, making sure there is a good chance we can provide you with work on an on-going basis.
