The Senior Legal Counsel role will support the PayPal Checkout product division in crafting and influencing the buyer experience for online shoppers all the way from discovery and selection of payment methods to completion of their shopping experience using PayPal &amp; our various product offerings.</p> <p></p> <p> Job Description</p> <ul> <li> Provide legal support for PayPal Checkout initiatives, including signup, onboarding, payment type selection, subscriptions and recurring payments, and receipts across mobile and web experiences.</li> <li> Provide proactive, timely and business-focused legal advice to the PayPal Checkout team on a variety of legal, compliance, and commercial issues.</li> <li> Advise on the design and modification of products, and proactively identify associated risks and recommend mitigation strategies.</li> <li> Review product experiences and associated content and marketing to ensure compliance with applicable laws.</li> <li> Develop appropriate terms, conditions, and disclosures for new product offerings.</li> <li> Monitor new regulatory developments impacting PayPal Checkout and advise business and legal partners on their impact.</li> <li> Coordinate with other members of the PayPal legal and compliance teams, and other cross-functional groups to support PayPal Checkout initiatives globally.</li> </ul> <p><br> Qualifications and Experience</p> <ul> <li> JD or equivalent required; admission to at least one state bar and in current good standing.</li> <li> 7 or more years of relevant experience in-house or at a major law firm (with at least 3+ years at a mid-to-large size technology or software company). Consumer-facing product counseling experience is a major plus. FinTech or financial services product counseling also a plus.</li> <li> Knowledge of regulations and industry guidelines applicable to ecommerce, including Reg. E, CAN SPAM, TCPA, E-Sign, and UDAP/UDAAP, and other guidance coming out of federal and state agencies such as the CFPB and the FTC.</li> <li> Familiarity with, and strong interest in e-commerce, PayPal, Venmo, Honey, mobile and alternative payments, emerging payments technology, and the payments industry.</li> <li> Ability to work well under pressure with diligence, organization, and minimal supervision, and provide practical, business-friendly advice to clients.</li> <li> Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously, with effective resolution of conflicting priorities.</li> <li> Strong analytical, strategic and project management skills; ability to drive issues to a quick resolution that factors in many non-legal variables, such as brand-risk, communications, government relations, tax, insurance, finance and other business units.</li> <li> Comfortable with gray areas and interpreting and applying the law in unsettled contexts.</li> <li> High degree of professional ethics and integrity.</li> <li> Exceptional oral and written communication skills.</li> </ul> <p><br> Remote candidates will be considered.</p> <p></p> <p> We're a purpose-driven company whose beliefs are the foundation for how we conduct business every day. We take into consideration an individual’s background and experience in determining final salary.
