The Opportunity Are you ready to make your mark as part of the Financial Restructuring and Insolvency (FRI) Practice in our Sydney office? As an Associate, you will apply good judgment and excellent analytical skills to your work. With experience in complex restructurings, workouts, and insolvencies across a variety of sectors, you will be joining a market leading team with fantastic career progression opportunities. Globally recognised as a leader in complex cross-border insolvencies and workouts, we represent clients in all aspects of restructuring and insolvency matters—both transactional and litigation. Our team frequently advises multinational corporations, private credit funds and alternate lenders, as well as insolvency practitioners on formal appointments. We collaborate across practices such as M&A, litigation, tax, and regulatory, ensuring comprehensive support for our clients. The Sydney FRI team is nationally recognised and works on some of the largest and most complex restructuring and insolvency matters in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. Key Responsibilities Transactional and advisory work – involvement in commercial discussions, negotiation, and documentation of restructuring transactions. Advising a wide range of clients including (i) on the creditor/investor side, private credit funds and alternate lenders; (ii) on the debtor side, large multinational corporates; and (iii) insolvency practitioner accountants on formal insolvencies and restructurings. Drafting documents such as deeds of company arrangement, share and asset sale agreements and other documents supplementary to a sale process. Client facing role, working as a part of a team to support delivering to clients. Conducting and overseeing legal research for a wide range of matters. The skills and attributes we are looking for Admission in Australia (or Common Law qualified and willing to qualify in Australia) PQE 5-7 Enthusiasm for the practice and willingness to learn Excellent drafting skills and attention to detail Strong time management skills, ability to stay calm under pressure when juggling multiple projects.
