Kennedys is looking for a 1-2 PAE Lawyer or Associate to join our growing liability & casualty team in Melbourne working for two specialist Partners. The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of casualty, product & public liability matters, property damage and Victorian Workcover recovery claims. The vast majority of cases will be litigated, although occasionally there is some early pre-litigation advice required. This is an opportunity for a junior lawyer to develop their career working for a reputable global law firm. We are looking for a candidate who is a team player, can develop and maintain excellent client relationships and is keen to be involved in marketing/business development and client training activities. Team Kennedys is a global firm and has had a presence in Australia since 2006. In 2017, Kennedys Melbourne opened to reinforce the firm’s commitment to the Australian market and then Perth in 2021. In July 2022, Kennedys opened an office in Brisbane. The Melbourne office advises on casualty and liability, healthcare, dispute resolution and employment. The Melbourne office is an inclusive and friendly team of about 60 people. Casualty Areas Working for London syndicates and domestic and international insurers, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to handle a variety of claims including but not limited to: Casualty work Worker claims and Victorian WorkCover Authority recovery claims Product & public liability Property damage claims Policy response advice Required experience 1-2 years* defendant litigation experience with a focus on liability and casualty claims Experience in property damage & Victorian Workcover preferred but not essential Ability to run own caseload Excellent knowledge and understanding of Australian personal injury law Strong academics Please let us know if you require any reasonable adjustments or additional support in order to submit your application to Kennedys. *where a level of experience is indicated, this is a guideline only and represents the amount of time we would usually expect a candidate to accumulate the requisite level of experience.
