That's 30% above average. </div> <div></div> <div> <b><br> Legal Counsel, Product and Regulatory at Checkout.com:</b> </div> <div></div> <div> <br> Checkout.com is seeking a talented Legal Counsel with a keen interest in product development and payments/fintech regulation to join our legal team in either London or New York! </div> <div></div> <div> <br> As our Legal Counsel you’ll report directly to our Associate General Counsel and work closely with all areas of the business around the world, taking a collaborative approach to solving sophisticated legal and regulatory challenges. </div> <div></div> <div> <br> You’ll be expected to advise on the development of new products (and the evolution of existing ones) as well as complex regulatory matters including compliance with regulations and our contractual commitments. You’ll support and guide our regulatory expansion by assisting with new license applications or helping to expand our existing licenses. </div> <div></div> <div> <br> Success in this role is being able to handle a busy workload, demonstrating excellent critical judgement, attention to detail, quick thinking and agility. Our mission is to be a legal team that exceeds expectations across the board, providing pragmatic and commercially focused advice, finding creative solutions to manage risk and becoming trusted advisers to our colleagues in the business. </div> </div> <div> <div> <h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b> What you'll be doing</b></h3> <ul> <ul> <li> Collaborate and advise on new product development - including with respect to regulatory compliance with payments regulations globally.</li> <li> Provide advice and support to our commercial, product, and compliance teams on issues related to global payments laws and regulations. Work with outside counsel to help advise when required.</li> <li> Advise on novel and sophisticated issues and provide clear advice on legal and commercial issues and risks.</li> <li> Help the business continue to expand internationally; researching and evaluating new territories and applying for new licenses or expanding existing licenses.</li> <li> Advise key business functions on new global regulatory and legal developments impacting our operations, products and contractual commitments.</li> <li> Carry out research on various multi-jurisdictional regulatory issues.</li> </ul> </ul> </div> </div> <div> <div> <h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b> About you</b></h3> <ul> <ul> <li> Qualified lawyer with 3-6 years of post-qualification experience with a developed foundation gained by training private practice or in-house.</li> <li> Self-starter eager to learn about and become an expert in payments regulation and excited to advise our product teams in building the future of payments.</li> <li> Excellent time management skills and experience managing a diverse workload and competing colleague demands.</li> <li> Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as needed, flexing the approach as the matter requires.</li> <li> Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate and explain complex legal issues clearly and concisely.</li> <li> Enthusiasm for new challenges and the desire to upskill yourself in different areas of law.</li> <li> Previous fintech, regulatory, payments, software, e-commerce and/or bank experience would be beneficial.</li> <li> Experience working in a start-up or other fast-paced and dynamic environment is desirable but not essential.</li> <div></div> <div> <br> Extra marks if you have: </div> <div></div> <li><br> Experience working internationally and on a variety of cross-border matters.</li> <li> Additional language skills, French in particular.</li> <li> Dual qualification in an overseas jurisdiction.</li> </ul> </ul> </div> </div> <div> <div> New York City law requires Checkout.com to include in job postings a reasonable estimated salary range for this position. However, final salaries may vary subject to several factors, such as a candidate’s level, relevant experience, qualifications, skills and proficiency for the role.
