The attorney would focus on financial, corporate, and securities law as it relates to the insurance industry including following model law and regulation changes at the national level through the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) that are required to be adopted in Wisconsin to remain accredited in accordance with s. 601.48 (1m), Wis. Stat. This position would also assist Division of Financial Regulation (DFR) staff in reviewing highly complex organizational structures and transactions that range from merger/acquisitions to affiliated/related party transactions that put the insurer at risk which ultimately puts consumers at risk. Assistance would also be provided to DFR in drafting solvency related orders, assisting at public hearings on transactions, and oversight of contracted attorneys on rehabilitation/liquidation matters. Draft and review legislation and administrative rules affecting OCI’s programs and represent OCI at legislative hearings and other public forums.</p> <p> OCI plays a key role in ensuring the financial solvency of licensed insurers operating in the state. This position partners with DFR by providing legal guidance on complex corporate transactions, investment and securities law, and coordination with other regulatory bodies.</p> <p> For more information, please view the complete position description.</p> <b> Salary Information</b> <br> <p>This Financial Attorney position is assigned to pay schedule/range 09-75. Starting pay for this position will be between $45.00 - $55.26 per hour, depending on candidate qualifications. A 12-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.</p> <b> Job Details</b> <br> <p>Due to the nature of the position, OCI will conduct background checks on applicants prior to selection. <b>OCI does not sponsor visas and is not an eligible OPT employer for those with F1 visas.</b> In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States, and to complete the required employment eligibility form upon hire.</p> <p> This position has potential for remote work after an initial training period has been completed. This topic and any remote work flexibility that may be available will be discussed in more detail in the interview process.</p> <b> Qualifications</b> <br> <p><b>Applicants must be licensed to practice law in the State of Wisconsin.</b></p> <p><b> Minimally qualified candidates will have education or training with all the following:</b></p> <ul> <li> Researching, analyzing, and interpreting laws and regulations pertinent to financial transactions within the financial sector.</li> <li> Providing legal advice, counsel, and recommendations specifically related to financial aspects of corporate transactions.</li> <li> Providing legal representation in matters concerning financial transactions, including litigation, hearings, negotiations, and regulatory proceedings.</li> <li> Preparing legal documents or memoranda tailored to financial aspects of corporate transactions, such as financial disclosures, transaction agreements, and regulatory filings.</li> </ul> <p></p> <p><b><br> In addition to the above, more than qualified applicants will also have experience with any of the following:</b></p> <ul> <li> Providing legal representation regarding financial aspects of corporate transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, reinsurance agreements, and other complex transactions.</li> <li> Evaluating the financial impact of proposed transactions and assessing risk exposures to ensure stability, solvency, and consumer protection.</li> <li> Compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards specific to financial transactions within the financial sector.</li> <li> Working collaboratively with insurance companies, financial institutions, and other stakeholders to review transactional documents, financial statements, and actuarial reports, fostering effective communication and negotiation.</li> <li> Working through complex financial matters relevant to insurance or corporate transactions, such as capitalization requirements, reserve adequacy, and financial reporting obligations, enabling strategic decision-making and risk management.</li> </ul> <b>How To Apply</b> <br> <p>Apply online!
