We are dedicated to our team's continuing education and encourage growth both at work and in life. <br> <br> <b>JOB SUMMARY:</b> <br> Assesses the insurability of real estate transactions; recognizes and resolves title problems and related issues. In-house Champaign office position that may also involve providing management oversight and leadership in the recruitment, training, motivation and management of downstate personnel and agents. <br> <br> <b>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</b> <br> Makes underwriting decisions on matters raised by Advocus agents and staff. <br> <br> Conducts staff and Advocus agent training on underwriting-related topics. <br> <br> Develops and revises underwriting content on the Advocus website. <br> <br> Updates written underwriting materials and notifies Advocus members of changes to the guidelines. <br> <br> Handles complex and problem files. <br> <br> Provides legal and technical assistance to Advocus staff and independent closers. <br> <br> Participates in trade organization- and industry-related working groups as needed. <br> <br> Other duties as assigned. <br> <br> <b>QUALIFICATIONS AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:</b> <br> 5+ years of regular real estate practice. <br> <br> Strong research and writing skills. <br> <br> Critical thinking. <br> <br> Excellent customer service skills. <br> <br> Attentive to detail. <br> <br> Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. <br> <br> Ability to work under pressure with compressed deadlines in a team environment. <br> <br> Proficiency in Microsoft Office and knowledge of Advocus title policy programs. <br> <br> Ability to work with a diverse and challenging customer base. <br> <br> Public speaking experience is a plus. <br> <br> <b>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:</b> <br> Law Degree and active license to practice law in Illinois. <br> <br> Advocus is an Equal Opportunity Employer that welcomes and encourages all applicants to apply regardless of age, race, sex, religion, color, national origin, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, marital or parental status, ancestry, citizenship status, pregnancy or other reason protected by law.</div>
