<div id="jobDescriptionText" class="jobsearch-jobDescriptionText jobsearch-JobComponent-description css-1axw7mm eu4oa1w0"><div> <div> <div> <div> <div> <div> <div> <div> <div> <div> <div> <div> <div> <div> <div> <p><b>Job Description:</b></p> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> <p></p> <h1 class="jobSectionHeader"><b> What will be your key responsibilities?</b></h1> <ul> <li><p> Advising on legal team role on <b>global strategic priorities and policy setting in the employment space</b>, e.g., regarding restrictive covenants, parental leave policies, living wage matters, Inclusion &amp;Diversity initiatives;</p></li> <li> Providing <b>“concierge” level legal support to Human Resources (“P&amp;O”)/Rewards for global key senior executive matters</b>, including negotiation of initial employment terms (sign-on bonuses, restrictive covenants) and separation agreements;</li> <li> Leading legal support for any <b>legal disputes regarding strategic priorities and policies</b> that have enterprise or multi-country and multi -segment Impacts, such as policies and anti-discrimination law compliance;</li> <li> Coordinating cross-segment <b>legal team employment community/Center of expertise;</b></li> <li> Providing <b>strategic relationship management of outside employment counsel</b> on matters for which this role is responsible, including evaluation of outside counsel support needs and selection and oversight of outside counsel;</li> <li> Providing legal support on <b>employment-related matters in M&amp;A</b>, such as negotiation of updated employment agreements for acquired company executives and non-compete matters; and</li> <li> Providing oversight of global or larger regional restructuring projects to ensure consistency in approach and execution, Including providing guidance in approach to collective consultation processes.</li> <li><p><b> Context and Scope</b></p></li> <p></p> <li> Reports to General Counsel, Corporate Development</li> <li> Significant level of interaction with the Associate General Counsel, Corporate; Segment General Counsels (and their teams); the General Counsel, Corporate Development; and the General Counsel, together with other functions in Mars that participate in employment matters.</li> <li> Lead role to establish and lead a global community of employment law across segments, regions, and functions.</li> <li> Key relationships are both internal and external: <ul> <li> Internal: Segment legal teams, Corporate legal teams, and P&amp;O/Rewards</li> <li> External: law firms</li> </ul></li> </ul> <p></p> <ul> <li> J.D. from an accredited law school with 12+ years of labor and employment law experience required, ideally with experience in both a well-respected law firm and in the legal department of a multinational company. </li> <li>Broad-based legal experience supporting a consumer business on employment matters, including litigation and policy development across the globe.</li> <li> Experience sitting on business leadership teams and/or providing counsel to senior business leaders is a plus.</li> <li> Strong business acumen.</li> <li> Can act decisively.</li> <li> Capable of analyzing complex legal and policy issues from a commercial perspective.</li> <li> Good relationship and influencing skills.</li> <li> Strong analytical skills.</li> <li> Must be a self-starter, highly motivated with a bias for action (strong work ethic) and able to function independently.</li> <li> Good Interpersonal skills</li> <li> Strong, flexible team player and collaborator that works to meet both personal and organization goals.</li> <li> Excellent written and oral communication skills.</li> <li> Excellent organization, execution, and project management skills.</li> <li> Ability to travel.</li> </ul> <p></p> <h1 class="jobSectionHeader"><b> What can you expect from Mars?</b></h1> <ul> <li> Work with over 130,000 diverse and talented Associates, all guided by the Five Principles.</li> <li> Join a purpose driven company, where we’re striving to build the world we want tomorrow, today.</li> <li> Best-in-class learning and development support from day one, including access to our in-house Mars University.</li> <li> An industry competitive salary and benefits package, including company bonus.</li> </ul> <p></p> <p> Mars is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
