This attorney will partner with internal business teams, subject matter experts, and other offices and will work both independently and in partnership with senior attorneys. This role is one of a generalist, providing advice on a wide variety of corporate matters, business transactions, and contracts. <br> <br> Responsibilities include: Provide high-quality legal and strategic advice to a diverse client base. Interpret, draft, negotiate, and advise on complex commercial agreements. Investigate and resolve disputes arising in connection with the university’s contracts. Educate and advise internal clients with respect to positions and issues that arise during contract negotiations. Work with internal clients to resolve legal, risk, and business issues that arise in commercial and corporate transactions. Understand and apply evolving regulatory requirements to new and existing agreements. Manage and prioritize multiple concurrent projects. Assist with review and drafting of university policies and procedures. Research and draft memoranda, advice and correspondence on legal issues affecting the university. <br> <br> Essential Duties: Serve as legal liaison to specific operational departments. Monitor developments in relevant areas of the law by keeping current on legal literature, networking with other attorneys, and attending conferences and seminars. <br> Support effective and efficient use and management of outside counsel. Perform other duties as assigned. <p><b>Essential Duties</b></p> 1. Interprets legal regulations and University policies and procedures. 2. Assists in the handling of administrative and legal proceedings before federal and state agencies and courts. 3. Negotiates, reviews, drafts and interprets contracts. 4. Negotiates and drafts the settlement of claims and/or litigation. 5. Researches and drafts memoranda, opinions and correspondence on legal issues. 6. May perform other duties as assigned. <p><b>Required Education and Experience</b></p> J.D. and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a related area. <p><b>Required Skill/Ability 1:</b></p> Outstanding analytical, negotiating, research, and writing ability. <p><b>Required Skill/Ability 2:</b></p> Pragmatic business acumen with the ability to recognize the broader consequences of legal advice.
